USRC Breed Suitability Test (BST)
The BST is designed to select those Rottweilers that are worthy of being bred. USRC strongly believes that breed tests are vital to maintaining the Rotweiler in type. temperament, form and function. There are two parts to the BST. The first - evaluates conformation and structure, adhering to the FCI breed standard. Once the conformation and soundness qualifications have been met, the dogs temperament is tested. This test includes a gun sureness test, a protection test, and a test to ensure the dogs composure around the public. Finally, the dog must also complete a protection test - including an attack out of the blind, defense of the handler and a courage test.
BST Requirements:
– Owner and handler must be members of the USRC
– Dog must be registered with the USRC on he closing of entry
– Dog must be at least 18 months of age
– Dog must have a tattoo or microchip for identification purposes (owner must supply scanner for microchip)
– Dog must have a BH title
– Dog must have a weight certificate from a Vet within 30 days of test date
– Dog must have a USRC recognized hip certification.
Copies of the following must be submitted with your BST entry - AND - Originals must be readily available the day of registration
– USRC Membership Cards for both owner and handler
– USRC Registration for the dog being entered
– Official Scorebook showing titles earned (minimum of BH), scorebook number and full name of dog
– Document showing prior BST attempts, if any
– Original USRC recognized Hip Certification
– Original veterinarian’s weight certificate dated within 30 days of test date
USRC Advanced Breed Suitability Test (ABST)
Similar to the USRC BST, the USRC Advanced Breed Test or ABST, was designed to determine if a Rottweiler possess the necessary qualities to continue to be used in a breeding program. In the ABST, a higher level of character exam is performed and a higher performance level is expected. The USRC offers the Advanced Breed Suitability Test twice a year: at the USRC National Sieger Show and the USRC National Schutzhund Championships.
ABST Requirements:
– Owner and handler must be members of the USRC
– Males must be 36 months of age or older, while females must be 30 months of age.
– Dog must have a USRC BST or ADRK Ztp prior to entry closing.
– Dog must have obtained 3 show critiques with an SG or V Rating from adult classes at a USRC or ADRK show from at least 2 different judges.– mMales must have a SchH3, IPO3 or VPG3. Females must have a SchHI, IPOI or VPG1– The dog must have passed an AD (Endurance Test)

USRC Lifetime Breed Suitability Test (LBST)
The USRC Lifetime Breed Test or LBST, was designed to honor those Rottweilers have demonstrated exemplary qualities in the ring, on the field and in their offsprings. Rottweilers that achieve the LBST have proven that they are the ‘Total Rottweiler” in type, temperament, working ability and genetic soundness.
Like the BST & ABST, there are two parts - the conformation evaluation and the character test. The difference in the ABST is that an even higher level of the character examination amd performance level is expected. Similar to the ABST, the LBST is only offered twice a year. At the USRC National Sieger Show and the USRC National Schutzhund Championships.
ABST Requirements:
– Owner and handler must be members of the USRC
– Males must be 36 months of age or older, while females must be 30 months of age.
– Dog must have a USRC ABST or ADRK Korung dated no less than one year prior to the LBST.
– After obtaining the BST and BEFORE attempting the LBST, a male must have sired at least 3 litters registered with the USRC and a bitch must mhave whelped at least one litter registered with the USRC. The progeny must have been evaluated by a USRC Breed Warden and must be found mto be free of visible genetic faults, i.e. white spots, long hair, deformities.

– Official Scorebook showing titles earned
– USRC Recognized Breed Tests
– Documentation of USRC registered litters (obtained from the USRC Registrar)
– Weight certificate dated within 30 days of test date
